Sports and ICT Intersect at NXTcomm

Spring is here, and it's a great time for sports. The NCAA basketball tournament just had a thrilling conclusion, baseball parks have roared back to life and golf and tennis fans are anxious to see their favorite stars return.

At TIA, we're thinking about sports too. But while most sports fans are focused on the balls and strikes, or on Tiger Woods' tee shot, we're thinking about how more sports fans can catch the action.

Free Registration at NXTcomm: Enter Passcode "TIA7"That's why NXTcomm, the only venue where the business and technology of communications, information and entertainment meet, will feature a panel on how information and communications technology (ICT) users can enjoy more sports content. Already, cameras will be there to catch most of the best sports action. But with more broadband and wireless capacity coming, ICT users are going to want more options to see their favorite sports teams in action, even if they aren't near a TV.

The sports panel at NXTcomm will give attendees keen insight into the latest trends on the intersection of sports, TV and ICT. The panel will feature representatives of professional sports leagues, sports television and ICT providers. Sports content will only help ICT grow and there's no better way to learn how to take advantage of that growth than by attending NXTcomm.

That's just one of the many exciting events planned for the inaugural NXTcomm show, which will be held June 18-21 at McCormick Place in Chicago. Recently, NXTcomm announced the educational affiliates that will present a wide range of informative panels, including: ATIS, BICSI, Digital Hollywood, Fiercemarkets, IEC, Stifel Nicolaus, Telecommunications Magazine and Wiley Rein.

NXTcomm will also feature keynote addresses by AT&T Chairman and CEO Ed Whitacre; Bell Canada President and CEO Michael Sabia; Cisco Chairman and CEO John Chambers; GE Vice-Chairman and Executive Officer and NBC Universal Chairman Bob Wright; Motorola Chairman and CEO Ed Zander; and Verizon Communications Chairman and CEO Ivan Seidenberg. For the exhibitors, NXTcomm recently announced the launch of the NXTcomm Eos awards. The awards program is designed to honor exhibiting companies that have developed the most promising new technologies or provided the best new network services, strategic support and ongoing achievement.

These are just some of the latest developments for the NXTcomm show. Keep checking PULSE Online, or go to www.nxtcommshow.com, to see what else we've got in store.
