Tell us about your executive leadership.
Dr. Charles Barry, President and CEO of Brilliant Telecommunications is a telecommunications equipment provider industry veteran and is a recognized innovator in multi-service IP networking. Before founding Brilliant Telecommunications, he was founder and CTO of Luminous Networks, where he was responsible for the technical direction and innovations that enabled Luminous Networks to become an established metro telecommunications equipment provider. Dr. Barry was a major contributor to the IEEE 802.17 Resilient Packet Ring technology and has authored more than 20 patents. Dr. Barry also held management positions at Nuko and DEC. He holds a Ph.D. and an MSEE from Stanford University, and a B.S. in physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Please describe Brilliant’s cost-effective products and solutions for maintaining highly accurate timing and synchronization of communication systems.
Brilliant Telecommunications designs, manufactures and distributes standards-based, carrier-class, next-generation timing and synchronization solutions. This product suite enhances operator competitiveness through a range of benefits—from improving service offerings and reliability to shortening provisioning times and reducing capital and operational expenses. Brilliant's IP-based, network time server products offer wirespeed performance, while delivering greater accuracy and security than existing solutions on the market today. Additional benefits include:
- Creating intelligent timed networks rather than individual timing elements
- IP-based solutions that easily accommodate time-sensitive applications such as IPTV, VoIP and VoD
- Service-level assurance tool provides real-time delay characteristics to ensure that QoS and QoE are strictly enforced
- Seamless integration with existing network elements
- Integrated antenna and server solution significantly reduces cost and installation time
What makes Brilliant's solution unique in your target markets?
Brilliant has recognized the fact that many TDM-based solutions are migrating to IP. Through Brilliant’s extensive experience developing IP-based solutions, we created timing and synchronization products that are not only IP-based from the ground up, but can also integrate with existing TDM-based infrastructures. Brilliant offers the only end-to-end solution from the central office (CO) to the subscriber access, providing a truly intelligent, network-timed approach built on rock-solid reliability and accuracy.
Brilliant works with a number of partnerships and vendors that are aligned with your business philosophy and vision. Please tell us the importance of these relationships to your business and clients.
The development of strong partnerships is crucial to our success. Brilliant works closely with partners and customers to provide custom solutions. As part of this effort, Brilliant teams with tier 1 partners to integrate Brilliant’s technology into cell sites, routers and switches, wireless base stations and femtocells. We continue to look for and add strategic partners that share our business philosophy and that can enable us to address new markets.
Tell our audience about The Zurich Z-1000.
The Zurich Z-1000 Stratum 1 GPS NTP server from Brilliant Telecommunications, Inc. delivers a new level of reliability and performance for network timing. The Z-1000 is a zero footprint, outdoor, pole-mounted Network Time Protocol (NTP) server that embodies its own timing management interface, which provides tools for diagnosis, monitoring and alarms. With timestamping performed in the hardware, the Z-1000 provides wirespeed NTP with unparalleled accuracy. Not only is the product orders of magnitude more accurate than existing software-based solutions, it is also easy to install. Using IEEE-802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE) and standard Cat 5/6 Ethernet cabling, the Z-1000 eliminates costly coaxial cabling and amplifiers.
