TIA/FOLS to Partner Booth at BICSI Winter Conference This Month

At this year's BICSI Winter Conference, TIA staff will present a joint booth with members of TIA’s Fiber Optics LAN Section (FOLS) (Booth 1012). TIA will proudly highlight our TR-42 User Premises Telecommunications Cabling Infrastructure Committee and the work it does with BICSI that benefits so many of our members. FOLS will have information on the benefits of optical transmission and will also highlight its interactive cost model for estimating LAN infrastructure costs.

TIA’s Engineering Committee TR-42 develops and maintains voluntary standards for telecommunications cabling infrastructure in user-owned buildings such as commercial buildings, residential buildings, homes, data centers and industrial buildings. TR-42 works with BICSI as it is the biggest driving force in the design and installation of code and standards-based telecommunications systems.

The Fiber Optics LAN Section of the TIA is a consortium of leading fiber optic cable, component and electronics manufacturers. FOLS focuses on educating end users and design consultants about the technical advantages and affordability optical transmission can bring to local area networks and fiber-to-the-desk applications.

BICSI's Winter Conference 2008 is January 14-17 at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Orlando, Fla. TIA will hold a drawing for a free copy of its 2008 Market Review and Forecast and will be present to educate all conference attendees on TR-42 standards and the benefits of TIA membership.

For questions regarding TR-42, please contact Stephanie Montgomery at +1.703.907.7735 or smontgomery@tiaonline.org.

Broadband Wireless World to Co-locate at NXTcomm08 in Las Vegas

Executives from CMP Technology and NXTcomm today announced the co-location of CMP's Broadband Wireless World at NXTcomm08, June 16-19, 2008, in the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Broadband Wireless World will include an exhibit pavilion on the NXTcomm trade show floor, which will be the official wireless destination at NXTcomm, showcasing 60+ vendors specializing in wireless technologies and mobile broadband solutions. It will also feature a two-day conference led by Heavy Reading's top mobile industry analysts Patrick Donegan and Gabriel Brown, who will discuss today's critical broadband wireless issues, including:

  • The transition to next-generation Evolved 3G, WiMAX and LTE networks
  • The impact of open-access business models on mobile Internet applications
  • An assessment of Google's mobile industry plans, and the 700 MHz technology options and deployment strategies
  • Flat all-IP wireless network architectures optimized for mobile broadband
  • Fixed-wireless technologies such as mesh, Ethernet microwave and WiMAX access

"Broadband Wireless World and NXTcomm is a powerful combination," said Joseph Braue, Group Director and Senior Vice President of CMP's Light Reading, the world's leading service provider brand, which is running the event.  "Broadband Wireless World brings a 10-year history of delivering quality information to leading service providers including mobile operators, ISPs, wireline carriers, utilities and municipalities. NXTcomm is quite simply the biggest service provider show where all these groups converge."

“The co-location of CMP’s Broadband Wireless World at NXTcomm08 makes perfect sense, because NXTcomm is a major destination for service providers and enterprise customers searching for technology and solution partners," NXTcomm Executive Director Wayne Crawford said. "NXTcomm08 can give CMP and the communications industry what they are most interested in: a venue with stellar technology- and business model-oriented conference programming, exhibition and networking opportunities. Attendees want to meet and hear from the best and the brightest in converged communications, and the co-location of Broadband Wireless World helps us achieve this goal by showcasing the future of mobile broadband networks. We look forward to working with CMP to host and co-locate Broadband Wireless World at NXTcomm in 2008.”
