• U.S. subscriber minutes of use have increased seven-fold since 1997 to 880 minutes per month in 2007.
  
  
• The total U.S. wireless market is projected to grow at an 8.1 percent compound annual rate, increasing from $188.2 billion in 2007 to $257 billion in 2011.
  
  
• Advanced data will become the principal driver of each segment of the U.S. wireless market, with data applications generating nearly 35 percent of wireless services revenue by 2011.
  
  
• Prepaid wireless service is the fastest growing segment of the wireless industry, tripling to 35.6 million subscribers in 2007 and comprising 15 percent of all wireless subscribers. Wireless revenue is expected to grow to $35.6 billion by 2011, a 22.2 percent compound annual rate.
  
  
• On a worldwide basis, the number of WiMAX subscribers is expected to grow from 1.2 million in 2007 to 37 million in 2011.
  
  
• Outside the United States, the number of wireless subscribers rose 14.2 percent to 2.8 billion in 2007.
  
  
• Internationally, wireless subscribership surpassed landline subscribership in 2002, and in 2007 there were 2.5 times as many wireless subscribers as landline subscribers.
  
  
• By 2011, there will be more than 4.1 billion wireless subscribers outside the United States, according to TIA projections in the new report.
