Grant Seiffert, President, TIAMapping an Industry in Flux

I've often commented in this space on statistics gleaned from the TIA Telecommunications Market Review and Forecast. The publication constitutes one of TIA's great strengths, an annual overview in great detail of the trends that define the information and communications technology (ICT) industry and will define it in the years ahead.

Just this past week, for example, I've been asked fairly detailed questions about trends in metro Ethernet, enterprise IP voice networks and next-generation wireless in rural areas. While it is TIA's function to stay abreast of these areas, the data at play can be quite granular – no matter who the president, CEO, journalist, analyst or other interested party happens to be. So it's good to know that when pressed I can point to the MR&F as an invaluable asset in these areas and many others.

It is also why I'm pleased to be introducing the TIA 2008 Telecommunications Market Review and Forecast to the news media on Friday, February 22. TIA will host a conference call at 10 a.m. that day to introduce the publication, which has more up-to-date information on wireline, wireless, broadband, international markets and other segments than ever before. On the call, we'll hear from Arthur Gruen of the respected analyst firm Wilkofsky Gruen Associates, the principle author of the publication for over a decade.

As wireless revenue moves toward overtaking wireline, as developing market investment surges in comparison to domestic deployment, as governments and carriers alike study penetration rates worldwide, precise data points matter more than ever. That's why this year's MR&F is more important than ever.

I invite all industry players to contact marketreview@tiaonline.org for more information on the publication. Members of the media interested in attending the launch conference call should contact Ian Martinez at imartinez@tiaonline.org.

Thank you,
Grant Seiffert
