TIA Member Product Spotlight:

TIA salutes one of its newest members, Alianza Global Communication Services!

AlianzaLogoAlianza provides the first hosted, fully-integrated IP-based platform for delivering Unified Communications Applications via SaaS for Broadband Service Providers. Value-added applications include VoIP, hosted PBX, IVR, integrated messaging, conferencing and much more. Alianza’s proprietary PowerPlatform enables Broadband Service Providers to launch private-labeled solutions in less than 30 days, with no capital expenditures. Alianza’s headquarters are in Lindon, Utah. The company has established branches in Mexico, Argentina and Singapore as part of its ongoing strategy to service English and Spanish-speaking markets worldwide.

BrianBeutlerBrian Beutler is the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Alianza Global Communication Services. Mr. Beutler was recognized by the Utah Technology Council as the “2005 Emerging CXO of the Year,” and his company was named among the top 25 fastest-growing companies in Utah in both 2005 and 2006. Before founding Alianza, Mr. Beutler was Vice President of Sales and Marketing, and subsequently President, of BeeLine Long Distance (a long distance carrier located in Orem, Utah, with clients across the United States). Mr. Beutler attended Brigham Young University, where he continues to lecture on the subjects of entrepreneurship and e-business.

Having lived in Chile for two years while serving as a volunteer for his church, Beutler came up with the idea to provide VoIP services to small and medium-sized business (SMBs) in Latin American countries. A few years later, Alianza had its humble beginnings in early 2003 when Brian Beutler, CEO and his business partner Scott Bell, CTO, both college students at the time, won first place in the Brigham Young University's Business Plan Competition.

The business plan at that time called for creating a hosted VoIP/PBX platform for residential and SMB end users in the US and Mexico. That business was an overwhelming success until he realized that there was a shortage of hosted unified communications technology, provided via Software as a Service, for broadband service providers. So, the company has changed direction and now licenses its technology to broadband service providers so that they can provide IP and hosted value-added services to their end users, with no capital expenditure.

Mr. Beutler spoke with Network staff and told us about the business.

Please tell us a little about the history of your business.

Please tell us more about Alianza’s PowerPlatform and its five main components.

  1. PowerPlatform Foundation
Alianza’s PowerPlatform Foundation includes the following hosted components:
  • Session Border Controller
  • Carrier Interface
  • Soft Switch
  • Virtual PBX
  • Billing System
  • Device Provisioning
  1. Logic Layer

The Logic Layer seamlessly integrates the six independent components of the foundation to create a single integrated platform. In addition, the Logic Layer provides an interface between the foundation and AMP and ATAC to create the PowerPlatform. This integration maximizes efficiencies by enabling the combination of multiple actions that need to be performed on various components of the PowerPlatform into single actions that the End User or Service Provider can execute via their respective portals.
  1. Application Programming Interface (API)
This is one of the value-added components that sets us apart from our competitors. Alianza's Application Programming Interface (API) sits between the Logic Layer and AMP as well as between selected sections of ATAC and the Logic Layer. This quick implementation API facilitates 'Fast-Start,' which is what allows Service Providers to launch their entire voice communications services in a short period of time and under their own brand. Interactions with Alianza API's are based on industry-accepted standards and secure protocols.
  1. Account Management Portal (AMP)
The Account Management Portal (AMP) is a web interface that End-Users access to directly manage their own account (purchase new products, modify settings, get educated, and view valuable reports, etc). AMP comprises four main sections:
  • Private Labeled Homepage
  • Account Management
  • Product Management
  • Reports
  1. Alianza Tools & Administrative Center (ATAC)
Alianza Tools & Administrative Center (ATAC) is Alianza's proprietary back-office management system. It allows Service Providers to manage all aspects of their service offering. ATAC is organized into five main sections:
  • Staging Manager
  • Account Tools
  • Help Desk
  • Platform Administration Tools
  • Administrative Reporting

Describe the Private Label IP telephony services that Alianza currently offers.

Alianza’s private label IP telephony services allow Broadband Service Providers to launch quickly (less than 30 days). It eliminates barriers to entry because it’s a “plug & play” system; it maximizes profitability because it has the ability to create custom products and plans; and it leverages development time and investment costly resources.

You announced last month that Alianza’s had grown 230 percent. Can you tell us how your company closed five service provider contracts, increased personnel and expanded its company headquarters, all within 50 days?

The company headquarters move and increase in personnel had been planned for several months previously, but it so happened that all these events closed or occurred during the same period that we closed the five service provider contracts. The service provider accounts we closed came from leads we generated from attending and speaking at ExpoComm Mexico, ISPCON, and WiMax World tradeshows.

Please tell us the value you gain from your TIA membership.

TIA provides us with the ability to network with companies with similar interests and also to meet with members who are in need of our technology. It also keeps us up to date on new standards development and domestic and international policy advocacy.
