| TR-42, FO-4 to Merge, Hold Elections at Tampa Meeting |
As previously approved, the TR-42 and FO-4 committees will merge at the February 4-8 meeting in Tampa, Fla., and there are several important housekeeping items to attend to for the meeting.
Officer elections will take place at the Tampa meeting for the full committee and even-numbered subcommittees; any members wishing to send a nomination should do so before this Friday, January 11. TIA would also like to remind TR-42 members to submit their meeting agendas by week's end as well.
This Friday, January 11, from 2-5pm EST, TIA will host a conference call to discuss comment resolution to ballot PN-33490-RV2-AD1. The following information has been posted to the TR42.2 web site:

TIA's TR-47:
Terrestrial Mobile Multimedia Multicast
Committee held its officer elections at its December meeting, as did two of its subcommittees.
TR-47 reelected Jerry Upton of J. Upton Consulting as its Chair and Marlis Humphrey of Harris Corp. as Vice-Chair. They began their two-year terms immediately.
The TR-47.1: Terrestrial Mobile Multimedia Multicast based on Forward Link Only Technology
Subcommittee reelected Carl Stevenson of WK3C Wireless as its Chair, and the TR-47.2: Terrestrial Mobile Multimedia Multicast based on DVB-H Technology Subcommittee elected previous Recording Secretary Thomas Derryberry of Nokia as its Chair.

The TIA TR-8:
Mobile and Personal Private Radio Standards
Committee is holding its quarterly meeting in Mesa, Ariz., this week. The TDMA working group convened this Monday as part of the larger meeting. At this meeting a TDMA Task Group working session of over 50 member companies what held to discuss TDMA technology in handheld radios.
The various subcommittees of the TIA TR-45:
Mobile and Personal Communications Systems Standards Committee will meet in Hollywood next week from January 14-18. The full TR-45 Committee met November 29-30 in Kauai, Hawaii, under the leadership of Cheryl J. Blum of Alcatel-Lucent. The following week, December 3-7, TR-45's subcommittees met to discuss issues pertinent to their specific areas of responsibility.

| 31st Meeting of ISO/TC204 Begins April 14 in Munich |
The International Organization for Standardization’s (ISO) Technical Committee (TC) 204 for Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS); ISO/TC204 has just announced that its 31st meeting will take place April14-18, 2008, in Munich. More than 120 participants from over 20 countries will gather for the meeting.
ISO is the premier organization for international ITS standardization, and the weeklong series of meetings will focus on diverse sets of emerging ITS standards in fields such as architecture; database technologies; automotive vehicle and equipment identification; fee and toll collection; general fleet management and commercial/freight; public transport/emergency; integrated transport information, management and control; traveler information systems; vehicle/roadway warning and control systems; dedicated short range communications; and wide area communications/protocols and interfaces.
The meetings will cover the entire committee program of work, including the introduction of new work items. Meeting highlights will include:
- A full discussion about the new Working Group 17 “Nomadic Devices in ITS Systems,” which will hold its inaugural meeting March 12, 2008, in Jeju Island, Korea. In addition to logistical discussions, the meeting will also mark the commencement of a new technical report to investigate and identify the standardization requirements to enable nomadic devices to serve as interfaces to support ITS Service provision and multimedia use into vehicles. All interested parties are welcome to attend either the Working Group 17 meeting in Korea or the follow-up discussions in Munich.
- The inaugural meeting of the Korean-led “Ubiquitous City Task Force.” A ubiquitous city (U-city) is a city or region with ubiquitous information technology; all information systems are linked, interconnected, and virtually everything is linked to an information systems through digital radio, wireless networking, WiMAX/WiBro or RFID/USN. The task force is designed to The plan proposes that the taskforce will act for two years in 2008-2009 to crystallize the concept/services of U-city; the requirements for standarization; and various recommendations. The discussion will focus on, but not be limited to, transport related issues.
As both the International Secretariat to ISO/TC204 and the the administrator to the U.S. Technical Advisory Group (US TAG) to TC204, TIA plays a critical role in steering the overall strategic direction of the committee, as well as providing overall administrative and technical support.
