 Overview
Caspian offers scalable networked storage performance with 400MBytes/sec and 40K IOPS per blade. Initially, Caspian offers a single blade high performance RAID solution with 4 hot-swappable drives. Follow-on releases will support larger capacity drives and provide linear scaling in storage capacity and performance. Designed as a modular storage blade for the needs of high density, high performance ATCA based applications, Caspian is built on industry standards to ensure easy integration and management for fast time-to-market development.With an onboard highly integrated and intelligent RAID controller, RAID functionality is managed without host CPU or external RAID controller intervention. This eliminates the need for running additional RAID software on the external host CPU or external arrays.Offering carrier class reliability and performance, Caspian is equipped with enterprise-class disk drives with RAID functionality for improved system availability. High availability is driven by lowering the mean time to repair (MTTR). With Astute Networks’ hot replacement at the drive level, the chance for a single point of failure is greatly reduced. System MTTR is not impacted since the failed drive can be quickly replaced.
