BitBand provides video content distribution and delivery solutions over IP broadband networks. Automated content life cycle management and Quality of Experience represent two main areas of focus for the company. The company's solutions are targeted at large-scale deployments of TV-centric residential subscribers and are optimized for hybrid and distributed network architectures. BitBand’s solutions include the following key components:
- BitBand Maestro suite for content distribution and video network management, providing Service-Network Independence (SNITM) offering seamless integration for all applications, expedited ROI via reduced integration efforts and extended business models.
- BitBand Auto-CDN is a dynamic, real time content placement according to actual usage, maximizing streaming throughput, optimizing storage capacity and minimizing network load.
- BitBand Vision servers, for streaming and storage of content, utilizing X:Stream, a cutting edge RAM & Disk streaming technology provide Extreme performance with near-zero overhead indexing. Vision appliance servers offer maximal scalability and are placed in the network clusters.
- BitBand SDK is an optional, service-enhancing software kit for the Set Top Box, enabling new applications and advanced features, archiving superior Quality of Service and Quality of Experience.
- BitBand Solution for enhancing the Quality of Experience for Live TV service.
The solutions are developed in such a manner that enables fast deployment time, and a virtual separation of the infrastructure and business entities of the service. This allows for a smooth introduction of new entertainment packages and services without the need to physically change network components. Scaling up the IPTV service leverages existing network resources by simply adding servers/server clusters, streaming capacity, online storage and content distribution policies.
What is the global potential, in terms of subscriber numbers, for IPTV within the next two to five years?
As the demand for a personalized TV experience increases and with more and more technological enablers for IPTV, modest predictions project more than 40 million IPTV subscribers worldwide by 2010, and more than 150 million IPTV subscribers by 2014. Market dynamics that combine to ensure this impressive growth include huge increases in bandwidth availability, fiber and DSL, maturity of technology platforms, and content abundance. In addition, new delivery platforms enabling IPTV over cable, mobile and Internet, are expected to have an additional growth effect on IPTV at large.
